About
Nyköping-river springs from Långhalsen, about ten kilometers north-west of Nyköping. It flows along the road 53 and crosses the E4 out of central Nyköping, and then it flows through the city-center.
Nyköping-river has been very famous for its great amount of specimen-salmon and masses of sea-trout in the catch-statistics.

When it comes to fishing in the river it is very important to remember that from May 1. you can only fish during the day. It is good to know that on uneven dates you are only allowed to fish with a fly and on even dates you are only allowed to use spin-fishing gear.

The stocking of salmon was actually stopped but the stocking of sea-trout is still carried out. Some specimen salmon from earlier stockings are still caught every season and even some steelheads. The sea-trout population is strong.
