The result of the limited net fishing at the
estuary of Torneå river, running out into the
Gulf of Bothnia.

The river Lainio with its salmon runs, reaching
breeding grounds to spawn at the end of their
200km journey, represent 60% of the wild salmon
reproduced of the total production of Torneå, Munio
and Lainio, which makes the Lainio river exceptionally
unique of the three. The potentiality for some great
angling for this fierce fighting specimen will whet any
avid sports fisherman’s appetite.

This has not gone unnoticed and this coming summer,
2006, there is an expectation of an influx of sports fishermen
to visit the river Lainio, and especially a noticeable rise of interest
from France.

Lainio Vildmark can as of this day ascertain, that the enormous amount
of work put into to the preservation of the decimated and nearly extinct wild salmon in the Baltic these past three decades, have resulted in the revival of the species with
a rapid growing stock of wild salmon and 2005 indicated an increase in total
number of salmon running up the Lainio river. As a result of the increase in salmon runs, the interest from fly fishermen and anglers in general has precipitated bookings in 2006 to the Lainio river to experience the challenge of hooking the Baltic salmon.

Short history
What have made the river Lainio well known is especially the productive grayling and trout fishing, that has been a trademark since the beginning of sport fishing in this area. Unique qualitative service for all the visiting sport anglers at the base fishing camp situated by the Lainio river has given it a quality reputation on the international
market.

Lainio Vildmark, “Sweden’s most consummated fishing camp”, since fifteen years back, has been working with fishing tourism. All the way down the Lainio river, starting at the source-estuary high up in the north, down to where the outflow
of the Lainio pours into the main tributary of Torneå. Lainio Vildmark has through the years organized fishing expeditions and shorter fishing trips for avid fly fishermen after the Baltic salmon, drifting, floating with dinghies, inflatable rafters and canoes. One can without any understatement ascertain to the intrinsic value of the local knowledge that the people of Lainio Vildmark have about the river Lainio and salmon fishing, supplemented with the rise of the salmon stock, which are the prerequisites for rallying more salmon anglers to the establishment.(base camp)

The last untamed river in the wilderness, with its multitude of rapids and pools with running salmon, are waiting to be discovered.

Welcome this summer for a great fishing adventure 2006!
