1. – 8. June. Update from Gaula and Orkla

Conditions were good right from the start of the season, on both the Gaula and the Orkla. The average size has been high and the number of very big fish (above 17kgs/37lbs) has been above normal. Water level fluctuated around 150 cubic and with a water temperature of about 11 degrees. Late June 2nd heavy rain moved in and the river rose to 480 cubic. The water temperature fell and the water turned muddy. June 3 was a bit of a standstill, waiting for the river to clean up a bit. June 4 fresh fish has entered the rivers and several beats saw increase in action. The first fish for the Salmon Adventures Club was landed June 4th; an 11kgs/24lbs male salmon with sea lice. However, the fish seemed to run fast and where soft takers. The runs seemed to slow down towards the end of the week. We are currently getting the Orkla lodge ready for the season, and good efforts have been made in cutting trees and in order to make the river more accessible.
