Stabburselva is about 60 km long and has its source from Stabbursdalens National Park which is Europe's northernmost forest and flows down to the porsanger fjorden in the beautiful north county. The area surrounding the river is particular, when the river partly flows through a narrow valley with canyon-esteem, river switches nicely between rapids and calmer pools and at the outlet area is more calm river flowing.

There have been two salmon stairs in the lower rapids, so that the salmon now can go up to Njakkaforsen.

Stabburselva is known for its large adult salmon stock. Here it is not uncommon to have salmon around 20kg and the record is 29 kg. Here they fish in crystal clear water. It is a very popular fly fishing rivers as long games are perfect for fly fishermen. Fishing is usually best in July, August, slightly later than the more southern rivers. In the outlet seek lots of arctic char up in the lower river, then time the water is highest. Periodically, it may be fine size of arctic char, up to 2.5 kg are not uncommon. It is mainly the olive-colored, gammarusen as arctic char hunting in outlet area.
